MATI ECO-PRIMARY SCHOOL, HUZURIKANDA
MATI established its first free school, the MATI Eco-School, in the MATI Eco-Village, Huzurikanda, to offer quality education to the impoverished people of the area. In 2024, Mati Eco-Primary School in Huzurikanda provided quality education and ecological awareness to 150 students, comprised of 79 boys and 71 girls, up to Class V. The school integrates the “Essence of Learning (EoL)” method, a child-centered approach, to deliver both quality education and early childhood development training. “Essence of Learning” (EoL), a Swiss approach to learning, is imparted to teachers who apply it in all classes. This ensures a holistic learning experience for the children, fostering both academic growth and essential developmental skills. The school provides uniformly excellent results, earning it a good reputation.

The MATI Eco-School not only provides formal education; it also teaches the students about social ethics, global warming, organic farming, and so forth. This broad-mindedness helps them choose between right and wrong, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and oppose injustice. Apart from general studies, students engage in extra-academic activities like sports, cultural festivals, gardening, upkeep of the nursery and plantation, and environmental studies. Between the years 1999 to 2024, up to 827 students graduated from the school. Last year, 14 students excelled in their primary school examinations.
Also, they learn essential life skills like cooperation, sharing, and caring for each other, especially in moments of need. They are able to cooperate and empathize. The experiential learning gained, for instance, cultivating a kitchen garden in their little backyards, enables them to earn for their families while enhancing knowledge regarding environmental sustainability.
